Icons Became generic
Somehow, I did something which has caused a few desktop shortcut icons to
change from specific icons to a generic blank picture. The icons include
two DVD drives E: and F:, a utility program Acronis, and a self created icon
for a frequently used folder. I was able to restore the self-created icon
without difficulty. But...

I next tried fixing the DVD drive icons. But if I right click the Icon +
Properties + Change Icon and select the appropriate icon, I get a message
that (for example) "the name E: specified in the drive box is not valid."

So what's the trick?

Re: Icons Became generic
Hi,

Sounds like the network drives have not reconnected after the reboot
required on the install of IE8 Beta 2. Have a look at their status in File
Manager.

Regards.

RE: Icons Became generic
Is there a disk in the drive when you tried to change the icon? Try that
before going to the Properties.

Re: Icons Became generic
I have the same problem with the icon for one program that is on the task
bar. It occurred at about the same time I installed sp3. This is the icon
for the program RoboForm. I do not have a desktop icon for that program,
just the task bar. Any ideas as to what happened and how I can correct it?

Thanks,

TRCSr
