how to delete documents and settings for deleted account?
The folder is c:\Documents and Settings\Channel 19.CH19BC\

On Windows XP Home Edition SP3RC, an attempt to delete this
folder yields a message: "Channel 19.CH19BC is a Windows
system account and is required for Windows to run properly.
It cannot be deleted." OK

The account was misnamed when set up and subsequently
deleted, specifying in Control Panel User Accounts to delete
the account's files.

Aside from formatting the hard drive, is there a way to
delete this unwanted folder?

See if this helps.

Boot into Safe Mode and log on with an account that is a Computer Administrator.
To boot into Safe Mode, restart your computer and keep hitting the F8 key until
you see a menu displayed. Use the up and down arrow keys to select Safe Mode and
hit the Enter key.
Once in Safe Mode, open Windows Explorer, navigate to the problem folder's
location, and right click on it.
Select Properties from the menu.
Click on the Security tab.
See if you can give the Administrators group Full Control permissions.
If not, click on the Advanced button and follow the procedure outlined in these
articles to take ownership of the folder.

That says it all - SP3RC is BETA software.

Thank you for the thoughtful and generous reply.
None of these procedures solved the problem, which existed
before sp3rc was installed. When the problem was first
noticed, the WinXPHome computer had not had SP1 installed.
Any other suggestions?
