719 fragments in 2.10GB file

After defragging my Windows XP PC the report shows 719 fragments in a 2.10GB
file - it appears to my Outlook 2007 pst file. I've been having some crashing
issues with IE7 lately (hence the defrag) - could all these fragments in
Outlook be the issue?

I don't recall ever seeing these fragments before. I checked an old defrag
report that I had saved from 2/10/2007 and there was only the 2 fragments in
the 113KB file. I am concerned about the size of the fragments (over 2GB) and
not sure if there's anything I should/could do about them.

Once you have sorted out the file if you still need advice about
defragmenting please come back here.

You are going to get others suggesting third party defragmenters. They
will not solve your problem which is an over large Outlook file.

Issues regarding the Outlook PST file would not affect the performance
or usability of IE7. You need to look further for the cause of the
IE7 problems.

Can you provide any details about these crashes, such as the text of
any error messages?

You neeed to know that most defrag utilities may not be able to defrag
files correctly if the file is currently opened with any other Windows
applications. The only opened file that might be able to be defragged
would be the Windows pagefile (aka Virtual Memory.)
