Cannot defragment

Using the command prompt( c:\WINDOWS|system32\cmd.exe)
c:\ defrag c:
Windows Disk Defragmenter

Windows cannot connect to the Disk Defragmenter engine

Please can youp rovide me with advice on how to rectify this prolem.
Operating System: Windows XP.

The normal deframent via start/programs /access0ories/..... des not work
either

Wrong syntax.

Go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.

I think you will find that the solution to this is to install Defrag. I had
exactly the same error message and symtoms you describe - for some reason
Defrag has been removed. It is very simple to re-install defrag. Go to the
Microsoft article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922379
