Hello

I am writing about my System Information utility which I don't seem to be
able to use properly.

If I type in msconfig32.exe in 'Run', and try to export my information, I

If I access this utility by going to Help & Support | and choosing 'Use
Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems' in the main
pane, then selecting Advanced System Information and then 'View detailed
system information (Msinfo32.exe)' in the main pane I get this:

Error 126.

What is the source of this problem, please and how would I resolve it?

Thanks for your reply, Ramesh, and the KB link.

I cannot look at my PC just now (I need to check it later), but if I need to
repair Windows XP using the installation disk, does it go over any of my
exisiting files (Word docs, applications, etc?

Steve,

Repair installation should not affect your programs and data on the disk.
However, it's a good idea to have a complete backup (image) of the drive
before installing or repairing Windows.

Steve,

Imaging refers to cloning the drive and backing it up as a single image
file. So when you restore the "image" file, entire data in the hard disk is
restored back.

Here are some good tools (not freeware) to do an image backup.
