Can someone tell me if it is possible when importing images from Mypictures
to bring them across in the same order as in the original folder i.e. date
photo taken

This is possible and how to do this is described here:

Once you have the order by date photo taken, you select all the photos in
the folder and you rename them filename (1), filename (2), etc. so that if
sorted by name the order will be the same as when using date photo taken.
I would suggest you make a new folder and copy the photos you want in this
new folder and then do the above renaming, at least the first time you do
this so you get familiar with the renaming procedures given in the above
site.
