Pics jumbled up ,some missing, some duplicated, names all over the p
I have recently scanned about 80 old photos to a folder in My Pictures. All of
a sudden for no apparent reason they became jumbled up,some disappeared, some
were duplicated and the names I had assigned to each picture were no longer
relevant to that picture. All this was in Thumbnail. Changing to Filmstrip
view, the large picture was not the same as the small highlighted picture
below and changing to Preview, all the pictures were present in the correct
order and correctly named ! Can anyone throw any light on what has happened
and how I can go back to square one-please,please,please.

==============================
I can only guess what happened...
The pictures that disappeared may have been
overwritten (replaced) with other files of the
same name.
The unwanted copies (I'm guessing they say...
Copy of xxx.jpg?) may have been created
when you tried to multiple select a group of
pictures and move them.
To correct the thumbnail issue...try copying
the complete group of pictures into a new
folder.

Re: Pics jumbled up ,some missing, some duplicated, names all over the p
1. Make a new folder under My Picture
2. Open the folder containing the 80 photos
3. Select all the pictures in the folder (hold the Ctrl key down and press
the letter A, this will highlight all the files in blue)
4. Copy all the selected files to the clipboard(hold the Ctrl key down and
press the letter C)
5. Open the new folder you made and paste the files in it (hold the Ctrl key
down and press the letter V.
6. Are the files in the proper order?
If the above works, let us know and we will tell you how to correct the
order in your original folder.

Have done what you instructed and although the pictures are not in the right
order, they are all there and the duplicates have gone and the names
correspond to the correct picture.Brilliant !Next installment please.

Re: Pics jumbled up ,some missing, some duplicated, names all over t
Yves, Thank you so much .I have done as instructed and although they are not
in the right order, they are all there now and the duplicates have been
removed and the names all correspond to the right picture.Brilliant. Please
post the second set of instructions. (This is the second reply I have sent
but the 1st one didn't seem to get posted)

==================================
There is no moderator.
The purpose of newsgroups is to share
information with as many people as possible
so instead of expecting private e-mail...it's
best to find replies to your message in the
original thread.
Posting your real e-mail address in public
newsgroups is a surefire way to get more
spam.
What is your question?

Re: Pics jumbled up ,some missing, some duplicated, names all over t
I don't know how to ask a question
and you sarcasm is not very helpful
I would not go by the name of just learning if I knew as much as you.
All I want is someone to explain how to post a question
when I click on it there is a click sound but where do I start typing?

RE: Pics jumbled up ,some missing, some duplicated, names all over t
You've picked on the wrong one here ! I'm a novice too - hence the fact that
Ive posted 2 replies because I wasn't sure if I'd done it right ! However,
click on 'new' at the top of the page, write your question in the box, then
click on Post and wait for the replies...

=====================================
I'm sorry you think the info I offered you is sarcasm.
And I notice that you are still using your real address...
you don't have to believe me but that is not a good
idea.
To begin a new thread...try the following steps.
Sign in with your passport.
Left click the New button / then click Question.
If the screen flashes but the new message window
fails to open...it may be blocked by your pop-up
stopper. Try overriding it by holding your Ctrl key
when you click...New / Question.
