Adding Date stamp in batches
Some of the new digital cameras do not have the feature to add the date stamp
on the pics. Our software Picture Motion Browser will add them it's easy;
only thing is (from what I can figure out) is we have to add it to each pic
and that is crazy.

Is there away to add the date stamp in batches?

Thanks

It would be a mistake to add the date graphic over the photo in the
camera, since it is very easy for it to hide important picture detail,
(and a camera can't possibly know where it is safe to add it).

This function is properly a specialized function of a photo printing
program, since only a *printed* photo does not automatically contain
the date and time when the photo was taken (in its EXIF data).

Many photo viewers will "overlay" selected data about a photo, including
date, but I haven't had any need for one that would print photos with
this information "in" the print.

I'm sure someone here has experience with a program that does this.

I'm guessing you mean the type of date
stamp that is visible on the picture when
it is viewed or printed?

Maybe the following free software would
be worth a try.

FastStone Image Viewer
http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

"Basic steps to add dates to image files
using Fast Stone Image Viewer"

(You'll have to experiment with position, font
size, color and the various Variables to achieve
the result you desire.)

Tools / Batch Convert / Batch Convert tab...

Check the box...Use advanced options...

Advanced Options button / Text tab /
Check the box...Use Text...

Open the drop window..."Insert a Variable"
choose...EXIF DateTime / Date and Time...OK...

Add the files you wish to append...

Choose an Output Format...

Choose an Output folder...

Click the Start button...

Re: Adding Date stamp in batches
Thanks John I'll try that.

Michael; I guess it's a personal preferance to have the date on photos or
not. At first I did not like the date stamp on my printed images. Now that I
mainly use my pics on the computer and as a screen saver and to email around
I/We love it. The date stamp (which sits on the bottom left side) is fun when
looking at our pics.

My mothers old Sony camera; like my Kodak both have the option to have the
date stamp put on the pic when the pics are taken or not. Her new Sony camera
does not have this feature (as most newer ones don't seem to from what I'm
reading).

Her software Motion Picture Browser has a neat feature that allows you put
the date stamp on in choices of colours; formats and in locations on the pic.
You can also remove it as easy as you put it on. Very simple click of a
button. The only thing is that you have to go thru each and every pic to do
this. We want to be able to do it in a grouping or batch.

Thanks again,
LisaB
