i cant change my background due to something disabling it...

i cant change my background i think its something in my registry i checked
but... nothing...

its grayed out when i right click on desktop and try to change it through
there.

Can Anyone Help?

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

Go to...Start / Run and type
(or copy/paste):

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

I have smae prob on my sons account, and when i do as you said by typing
"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL" i get failed return code 0x80070005
any ideas?

Saying same problem doesn't mean much...
what...exactly...are you trying to repair by
running that command?

Maybe you have a corrupted user account...
might be worth a try to create new one.
