Is there a printer queue limit per windows 2003 server?

Hello,

I can't seem to find out if there's a printer queue creation limit per
windows 2003 server for both a stand-alone or print cluster environment? I
have several hundred printer queues per print server in our organization. Do
I have to worry about this?

We backup the printer queues regularly using the PrintMig tool.

Thanks in advance...

At some point you'd hit a limit in how big the registry hive gets but the
limit would depend upon the data structures of the printers and drivers.

It's pretty easy to add 5000 printers to a machine (including XP), the
limitation will be in how much printing each user performs and how many
users are connected to the print server.

read the docs so you at least have some additional information.

So if you have a couple hundred printers that are always printing with 20000
concurrent users, you'll most likely run into some slow downs

If you have 2000 printers with 10000 concurrent users and users only print
personal schedules and simple documentation, you should be okay.

It depends on the clients and the load not really how many printers are on
the server. Adding printers will increase your client load but it depends
on the type of devices you use. If you have devices that service 50 to 100
users, then that will take more resources than adding a printer that
services 5 users.
