winfax and XP
Hi. In my office we have several PC's on a network and a domain server. We
need to install a fax management software on a PC and share it with other. I
installed Winfax 10.04 (the best I found) and shared the service, but ather
workstations don't connect to it due to XP protection dutes and the domain
policy.
Anyone there has experienced the same problem? we're close to abandon the
project and throw it out of the window.
Thanks

Re: winfax and XP
1. WinFax beyond version 9 is largely incompatible with Windows XP.
2, Installing WinFax usually trashes XP Fax to the point it is often
unrepairable.
3. Assuming your domain controller is Windows 2003 server, you already have
a Shared Fax Service that XP fax will integrate with. This would also be
true with earlier versions of Windows Server if you have Small Business
Server installed; it, too, has a Shared Fax Service.
4. WinFax, like just about all Symantec/Norton products, is a whole lot more
trouble that it's worth and there is no real customer support for it; it's a
largely abandoned product.

Re: winfax and XP
We found ActiveFAX which can also accept faxing jobs from almost any LPD
compatible systems .

Re: winfax and XP
While i don't want to comment on other products symantec offers, of course
there is no support from them because WinFax PRO was discontinued by
Symantec in June 2006.It is no longer being sold by them, the only way you
can purchase WinFax is from vendors who have old stock and they don't have
the experience to support the product they sell. If you decide to go this
route you might want to check a winfax specific user forum at
