Scanner not working on Lexmark X5495

Scanner not working on Lexmark X5495.

Just setting up a new Lexmark X5495 4-in-1.
I know it was a cheapie but I would still expect it to work.

Printer seems ok but just cannot see why the scanner doesn't work.
I have tried everything, read the userguide, googled etc but no go.
Don't know where else to look and wondered if anybody has had similar
problems or can advise where else I can look.

I had the same problem on three different new PC's. Got no help from Lexmark!

Put install disc in again-went to the OCR folder - found ABBYY FineReader
6.0 Spirit set up and reinstalled. This is where the problem lies! After I
did this ok for scanning. Had an additional problem that PC boot up slowed
dramatically after installing this CD. I got over this by removing the usb
lead until boot was completed then reinstated with no problem. All in all,
very unsatisfactory software and support. Lexmark said they had had no other
reported problem with this printer!

I have the same problem and lexmark told me it's a microsoft
problem-----found the abbey and tried to reinstall and i received the same
error message HKEY LOCAL MACHINE............I will uninstall and try again.
If it works I will post it.
