Unable to Print using Docking Station/Port Replicator
I have a Dell Latitude D610, XP Pro, and a Dell Docking Station/Port
Replicator (Model PRO1X) purchased in Feb. 2005. I have posted on the Dell
Forum (Printer Group) and have had no satisfactory results.
I have not had this problem for the past 3 years and have made no system or
configuration changes lately that I am aware of. When the D610 is in the
Docking Station, I go to print and a balloon Information message pops up from
my System Tray "This Document Failed to Print" w/time and printer model #.
In troubleshooting, I deinstalled the printer and reinstalled, confirming
that I had the latest print driver, deinstalled and reinstalled the LPT 1
port and then I powered down, removed my PC from the Docking Station,
connected my HP LaserJet 4L directly to the LPT 1 port, did a Cold Start and
my printer worked correctly.
I then inspected both the male and female connectors on the PC and Docking
Station, insured that they were clean and undamaged, reconnected my HP
Printer to the Docking Station, placed the PC back in the Docking Station and
still got the same message as above. All my other devices attached to the
Docking Station worked correctly including wireless keyboard/mouse, display,
Epson InkJet printer attached via a USB port and remote mike and speakers.
