Missing printers

I have a Win XP Home edition system, it has one HP printer attached with USB,
one Panasonic networked printer with an IP port. Both printers just
disappeared from Printers and Fax, and we cannot print. I have reinstalled
them both successfully, but a couple weeks later they are gone again. Not
sure how to solve this and help would be greatly apprecaited.
