Ask for Service Pack 2 CD to installl Fax Services
While trying to install Fax Services in Adding Windows components, a dialogue
asks me to insert my Windows xp Service Pack 2 CD. I don't have and never had
such a CD, since I obtained Service Pack 2 by downloading it. To ensure that
I indeed have Service Pack 2 installed, I went to System Properties, General,
and it shows Home Edition, version 2002, Service Pack 2.

The installation will not allow me to get past that point.

How do I get Windows to realize that if it needs files from Service Pack 2,
they're on my hard drive somewhere?

Look in the Windows folder on the C: drive. You should see a
ServicePackFiles in there somewhere.

Of course, you could also download SP2 and burn it to CD.

Or SP3:
