Autorunning USB memory-sticks?
...an insanely bad idea?

http://www.schneier.com/blog/archive...g_compute.html

Just wondered what thoughts were on this.

Mine are that it's asking for a a repeat of the 'sneakernet viruses' which
prevailed in floppy-disk days. Excpept that in those days you at least had to
make the mistake of leaving the floppy in when rebooting. Now, you don't even
need to make ANY mistake.

And as we all know you, while you can turn autorun off in the registry, it
has a nasty habit of unexpectedly turning itself back on if any related
hardware is changed.
