Lost administration priviledge
Virus heat took over computer and now cannot log in as administrator.
Friendly "welcome"screen doesn't come up, so can't use alt+ctl+deltrick.
Can't change user priviledges since not logged on with admin priviledges.
User name I log on with does not show on User screen.
Computer management tree does not show "Local user groups" either.
Can't use MSDOS to reformat either - need admin priviledge.
How do I break in to get admin priviledge back????

Use a rescue CD like Knoppix or a Bart's PE to back up data to external
media if it hasn't been done already. Then do a clean install of Windows.
From your description of the system, it is too compromised to save.

Re: Lost administration priviledge
Don't care about data back up.
Already downloaded BartPE- but it won't run, because it comes up with need
admin priviledges.
Can't load from original system CD- comes up with need admin priviledge
Same withchanging BIOS sequence to booting from CD b4 HD - need admin
priviledges.

Do i have to install new HDD on laptop??? Is that the only way.

You're definitely doing something wrong. When you boot from a bootable
operating system CD - such as one for XP or Knoppix - you are not in an
operating system to be asked for any passwords or "privileges".

If you are talking about a BIOS-level password being set - a password
requirement that appears as soon as you turn on the computer - then that is
a different item altogether.

I suspect you are trying to load your original system CD - whatever that
really means - from within Windows. This will not work. You need to change
the boot priority in the BIOS to optical drive first and boot with your
restore disk. Since you don't need to back up anything, just use the
restore disk and put your machine back to factory condition.
