VirusScan 8.5.0i

How do I stop McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i from running? I've
tried stopping the services but I get permission denied?

Not sure why you'd want it to stop, but I'd speak to your IT support people
about this - it's centrally managed, and I imagine you don't have admin
rights on your workstation.

I am using an id with admin rights...

OK - I still suggest you speak to your IT staff as they're the ones who
manage your network.

Hi,

Right-click the icon in the system tray & choose the console

Double-click the top item & it has a checkbox to the bottom-left which is
something about the tampering of McCrappy services, click APPLY then OK

You should be now able to end task those processes

In the RUN key for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE are the McCrappy Framework

Or just uninstall McCrappy

Ordinarily I'd agree, but this is the corporate version, meaning this is
likely not someone's home/standalone PC. Therefore, telling them to
uninstall it may not be the best course of action ;-)

I install McCrappy 8.5 Corporate on upto 60 machines a week & remove it from
some

The advice I gave was for the corporate version

.....and this may not sit well with the people who manage the OP's network.
My (minor) objection had nothing to do with the technical accuracy of your
reply - it's that *if* this is an end user whose computer is managed by a
corporate IT department (as I surmise), they should be discussing this with
*them* and not trying to bypass their policies. :-)

In the Console, I turned-off or stopped "Access Protection" then I was
able to shut down the services McAffee. Thanks

right click on try icon McAfee ,Then click virus scan consol,their Acces
protection their double click then their is one check mark on (Prevent Mcafee
service from Being stoped )Remove that check mark. then you can stop the
McAfee .
