Registering XP after activating it

Registering XP after activating it
I activated XP 2 days ago but didnt register it at the time. Now i need to
register it and can't find out how. help?

accually, the problem is im trying to upgrade to Vista but when i put the
upgrade disk in the computer reads it then ejects it back out without any
messages popping up. i figured this was because i didnt register it. and i
right?

Registration is purely optional.
Activation is required.

Which is it you are actually trying to do?
( Exact wording when trying to get help from those unable to see you and
your system is highly recommended. ;-) )

well im trying to upgrade to vista, but i figured that i would have to
register XP first.

No. Registration has nothing to do with your issue. Registration is never
necessary.

Give full details of your computer and the Vista disk, including where you
got it and how you're trying to install it. Be very descriptive since we
can't see your computer. These links will help:

Addendum - I see that you have multiposted this in another, also
inappropriate, newsgroup (since your issue has nothing to do with security
or networking) and that someone there suggested that you don't have a DVD
optical drive. Is this the case? If yes, then you need to add/replace your
CD drive with a DVD drive.

Next time please don't multipost as it makes it difficult to give you help
and also makes more work for everyone.
