Password prompt.
I am setting up a computer which needs a login prompt on boot for security
purposes, but needs to keep running all day with minimal power requirements
when not in use. Other computers on the network need this computer to be
always on, as the printers are connected to it.

I have set it up with one administrator account only. This account requires
the password on reboot as required. I set it up with the monitor to turn off
after 15 minutes, everything else to stay on. (turn off hard disks: never,
system standby: never) However after the monitor does turn off, the system
asks me for a password before it will start the system up again. This
happens even if I have unchecked the "prompt for password when resuming from
standby" checkbox.

How can I make it so that the monitor turns off, but the system still keeps
working?

What makes you think it is not working?

My understanding is that your computer is in the same state as if you had
selected
CTRL/ALT/DEL .... lock computer

In this state all applications and services are running, just the
interactive console has been locked.
