ad-aware 8.0 clashing with avg 8.0?

I have been using avg 7.5 free edition, but have upgraded to
avg 8.0 paid edition.

I was advised by avg to uninstall any other vendors anti virus
software, but I don't know whether avg 8.0 would really
replace ad-aware 8.0 that I have on the comp.

The avg 8.0 has anti-rookit, anti-virus, e-mail scanner,
link scanner, web shield, resident shield, anti-spyware.

Is any one familiar with this software please?

(I have winxp with IE7)

No, AVG free edition will not repace the Adaware 8.0, you need to uninstall
to upgrade to version 8.0 of AVG then you can Reinstall the Lavasoft 8.0 to
be protected against malware.
Or you can try one of these MS product Windows defender free and OneCare
free Trail for 90 days.
Windows Defender Free for windows:

Onecare (90 days trail ):

Try installing SpywareBlaster :
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html . Do not have two
memory-resident anti-spyware programs running at the same time. You can scan
using Ad-aware as needed only. If you disable AVG anti-spyware resident
shield then why are you using the paid edition anyway? (I have the Free
Edition of AVG 8.0).

Yes we use both of these, and it's not generally a problem so long as the
memory-resident ad-watch component of ad-aware isn't installed.
