RE: Change login name is XP Pro
Malke has stated the situation correctly, and you would do well to take heed.
Changing the username on a W2000/XP computer has a number of consequences,
some depending on whether it's a domain or workgroup setup.
You cannot in any case *properly* change the name of an existing user.
Whilst you can change the logon credentials, other details such as the user's
data folder, as in: {C:\Documents_and_Settings\username} remain the same,
and this may lead to confusion. Therefore, best not done.
This is one reason I always try to grab new computers as soon as they are
delivered. If a user gets hold of one, 'jumps the gun' and establishes an
incorrect accountname, then the whole setup needs to be repeated with the
right one.
