Re: lost system administrator rights in IE7

You haven't exactly proved that you don't have them...

If you had gpedit.msc you could use the Internet Explorer Maintenance
Group Policy settings. Unfortunately, I think XP Home users don't have
that tool. I guess they have to use RegEdit perhaps guided by RegMon? ; }

Some people can use a third party security policy to assign permissions.

How can I get my administrator rights back. I am a novice when it comes to
this kind of thing. I sign in as an administrator because of XP but when I
try to use my DVD/CD drives (2 internal, one external), or external hard
drives I receive a message I don't have access to them, I must see my
administrator.

Please note that you are piggybacking onto a cross-posted thread
which originated in the IE General NG. I don't think that this question
has anything to do with IE so I suggest we drop the IE NG from the
cross-post. I have set FollowUp-To to assist with that. I'm not sure that
the web interface that you are using respects that request but you could
edit the newsgroups list in any additional reply to make sure it doesn't
include the IE NG again.

Otherwise since your post really only has partial relevance to the original
subject I suggest you start a new thread in the Security NG only with a more
descriptive subject about your specific symptoms.

I do not subscribe to the Security NG, so probably will not see any replies
to this post.
