New motherboard but cannot shutdown or reboot
I had to replace a motherboard (different model) and to my surprise managed
to get it to boot up, re registered and installed a few new drivers etc.

However pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete does nothing, clicking Start - shutdown
brings up the usual menu but Restart or Shut down does nothing.

Any suggestions to get XP Pro SP2 running properly without a complete
reinstall, maybe delete a driver or ???

Thanks
M

Re: New motherboard but cannot shutdown or reboot
Boot from your XP CD and do a repair install first.

Re: New motherboard but cannot shutdown or reboot
Did you uninstall all the drivers for the old motherboard such as audio,
video (if onboard) network card?

Re: New motherboard but cannot shutdown or reboot
I did not get the chance, the old board crashed out broken.

I tried a repair install without success but managed to get in with problems
on the new board and back up old data before having to do a fresh install.to
get the system running properly.
