Can't do repair install

I'm attempting to do a repair install on a system that has been transferred
to a new computer. I've transferred a copy of the system to a partition on
the target system using Norton Ghost. I've adjusted the necessary "Hidden
Sectors" parameter on the target system (because it's a logical partition)
and I can successfully boot to the F8 key "Safe Mode" menu. When I boot from
the XP CD I am able to get into the ERC on the target partitition and verify
that the necessary boot files are there. However, when I attempt to do the
repair install off the CD, the "R" option doesn't appear for the partiton.
How do I get this part of the installation to recognize that there is a
Windows system there? Thanks for any help.
