Can't upgrade to XP after reinstalling ME

Hi,

I reloaded all my software, including windows M.E. from a compaq recovery
disk and now I can't upgrade to XP home.

I had no trouble doing it originally, but now the XP disk asks for a real
ME disk, and the compaq upgrade disks are not acceptable.

I updated my windows ME through windows update, hoping that migh help, but
it did not.

Any advice?

I was wrong - no patch neded.

I was booting off the upgrade disk, so ME was not running at the start of
the install process.

When I already had ME running and put the upgrade disk in the drive to
autorun the upgrade worked fine.
