Re: RESTART
What is the problem? What happens when you reboot or restart the
computer? Give us more details, we can't help you unless you give us
more information.

Well, reading *into* what you have written - I can only guess that you have
a 'dual boot system' but that was not your plan?

Edit the boot.ini file (google for "edit the boot.ini in Windows XP" for
more information) and make it so you only boot to the ine you should be and
the other is no longer listed.

Re: RESTART
Hi Guys ,
My problem was, restarting or rebooting when applying
apps, and updates.
I did'nt know whether it was mechanical , such as the button switch being
faulty or software.

My rig is a Dell Dimension 4600i, P4 3ghz , 1.5Gg Ram .dual boot, 3 hard
drives. It turned out to be the BIOS was
corrupted, I had some verbals with a Dell engineer, to reset the bios , pure
magic it was ,2 key presses alt & F
alt & B to save. The 1st OS is loaded to a sata drive XP home ,but by this
time , the drive was also corrupted
I literally had to load from setup floppies to start the install , the IDE
drive was disconnected . the install was OK
as i recall 92 xp updates. Thereafter i started on the 2nd IDE primary drive
with XP pro, There was no problem with the
install ,apart from restarting ,or rebooting.

I thank you both for pointing me in the right direction, I checked my INI
config there was a slight difference , I had previously
printed a copy some while back,so I was able to quickly edit. So hopefully
my problems are over . I did a restart before
writing this chapter.
