Cannot get the new drive to accept XP Pro
I formatted and installed XP Pro from my original disc on a drive that
I suspected might be dying....it took 15 hours to load !! It did work
but took 4 minutes to boot up.
I tried another old hard drive and it booted up fine.
So I bought a new IDE drive that accepts XP in any of its variations
and installed it and put the XP Pro disc into the drive when prompted
and it tried to read it but said it is not a valid windows disc !!
Can someone help me out here??????

Make sure the drive's jumper is set to "master".
