Duplicate Installation ID
Hi,

We installed XP Pro SP1 in a computer with 25-digit Product Key (lets' call
it "A").
We activated it. We ran SYSPREP on it. We imaged the drives. Each image now
boots up and we type a unique 25-digit product Windows XP "SP2" key in (call
the keys B, C, D, E, etc). Once they are up we go to Activate. At first
things were going well. it could activate over the internet. Then the images
started asking for us to Telephone Microsoft. We click the TELEPHONE button
and we get a 42 digit installation ID and we call it in and they give us a 42
digit key back. Then we activate. What we noticed is ALL of the 42-digit
installation IDs that are generated are the SAME on all boxes!! Even though
we entered a unique Windows Product Key during the SYSPREP boot up. Microsoft
said we should not be getting the SAME 42-digit installation key on different
boxes. Does anyone know why this is?
