XP does not identify the HDD of my lenovo Thinkpad T61

Hi,

I have a lenovo T61 notebook with windows Vista buisness being
installed on it. I want to install my old windows XP on it and remove
windows vista, but on the first step XP is unable to identify the hard
disk and wants me to add a HDD to the laptop. Also there is a nearly 7
Gb space on the HDD that is being made for recovery purposes. Do I have
to delete the 7 Gb partition and all other partitions including vista to
have XP on my notebook?
I have made 3 recovery DVDs through windows but it seems that only the
drivers for vista are included in those DVDs and windows Vista is not.
What I should do in order to have Vista on DVDs and install XP?

Thanx
Omid

You likely need to use the F6 option during XP setup when booting off the CD
to provide the hard drive controller driver, you need to download this from
Lenovo's website. Keep in mind a floppy disk drive is required for this
operation.

Go into BIOS setup and change the mode of the SATA interface from AHCI
to IDE. This will allow XP setup to see the hard drive.
