Photo attributes (eg. camera model) not visible in WMP 11

When I view My Pictures in Media Player 11, JPEG/EXIF image attributes like
Camera Model and Keywords/Comments do not appear when a choose these columns,
yet they are visible when i display them as folder attributes in Windows XP.
Also when i right-click on a picture the Edit option is grayed out. How do I
get photo attributes to appear so that i can sort and search on them?
