MovieMaker query - my JVC GRDVL-805 cam's connection to computer

Ayone have any idea where I can purchase the wire that goes from my JVC
camcorder to the computer. I want to transfer video from cam to computer? Has
anyone purchased a setup that works? I see a lot of complaints. Does anyone
know my specific cam? It's an older JVC version. My laptop is one of the
newer Acers with Vista Home Premium.

Maybe the following info will get you started:

According to the following spec sheet your
JVC is a MiniDV cam with an IEEE 1394
FireWire interface.

So...you need a IEEE 1394 FireWire cable...
your owner's manual should offer instructions
on connecting it. And of course...your computer
will also need a IEEE 1394 FireWire port...check
your owner's manual. If your computer does not
have a FireWire port you can install a IEEE 1394
PCI FireWire card...easily obtained at stores
selling computer accessories.

Did you get your firewire to recognize your camcorder? I can't get it to do
that. I have the same model camera and I'm using a startech iwww1394 pci
cardbus.
