Getting Event ID 50 when using Remote Desktop to an XP computer
When trying to connect to a Windows XP Pro w/SP2 computer from an XP SP2
computer with RDP (6.x), I get the following error on the target computer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: TermDD
Event Category: None
Event ID: 50
Date: 3/10/2008
Time: 5:02:34 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DEN-2F201-41529
Description:
The RDP protocol component "DATA ENCRYPTION" detected an error in the
protocol stream and has disconnected the client.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 00 00 04 00 02 00 52 00 ......R.
0008: 00 00 00 00 32 00 0a c0 ....2..À
0010: 00 00 00 00 32 00 0a c0 ....2..À
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0028: 92 01 00 00 Â’...

This is irregardless if the user is allowed, Local Administrator or Domain
Administrator. There are NO problems connecting to any other computer.

I found MS KB 323597 and others that mention the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\TermService\Parameters
Key, and deleting the Certificate and X509 Certificates.

On that computer, there is ONLY the Certificate Value, the two X509 Values
are missing (on our other computers, all three Values are present), so...I
presume I need to somehow create or recreate them?

I couldn't find information on doing that...what do I need to do?

Thanks!

Re: Getting Event ID 50 when using Remote Desktop to an XP computer
You need to delete Certificate. Please backup the registry first.

Solved: Remote desktop failEvent ID: 50 - The RDP protocol component "DATA
ENCRYPTION" detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected
the client. ...
