remote shutdown

I am running XP on this machine, but i have a computer downstairs running
2000. i lately have been exploiting the CMD commands, but i still cannot
remote shutdown the computer. it tells me "access is denied". any reason why?
any way to fix?

Since I don't have a Win2K machine handy, I can't vouch for it working, but on
XP you need to use an admin account that is identical in name and password to an
admin account on the other system. Once you have matching accounts set up, you
can shutdown the remote computer with a command such as this substituting the
correct computer name after the back slashes.

shutdown.exe -s -m \\Win2KPC

Another tool you can use is PsShutdown.
